I've been told that I have acanthosis nigricans. But my neck, upper back, arm pits and inner thighs remain ten times darker than the rest of my skin regardless of how much weight I gain or lose. I was prescribed tretanoin or something spelled along those lines when I was a teen but all it did was cause my skin to peel. What could this be and how do I fix it.
Hello Acanthosis nigricans is darkening and thickening of skin. It is usually familial. However it can be associated with diabetes or internal malignancy. Tretinoin is fine but it is important to find out the cause. Please meet a dermatologist and get yourself evaluated. Thank you
