What Is Sandostatin Shot Prescribed For?
Hi! I receive monthly shots of sandostatin for liver cancer, apparently large tumors. I ve read it fights diarrhea and other digestive problems. The hospital where I receive the shots, is charged $16,000.00 or $17,000.00 per shot, and Medicare covers this. The description of Sandostatin does not seem to directly fight cancer. What else can I be doing to actually fight cancer of the liver, and how on earth can one shot cost $16-$17 thousand dollars? thanks.

Sandostatin is originally octreotid which is a hormone that affects our hormonal balance and causes decrease secretion of vauoactive hormone. It is used for symptoms relief in neuroendocrine tumor of liver and pancreas
It won't cure the disease. It is expensive because this is made under controlled laboratory conditions.
