Dear All,
My Mother has recently reported of Valve leakage...She is a diabaetic for past 6 years..Please help me to understand about it in detail about the causes and effects
There are four valves in the human heart. The first sound "lub" is heard when the mitral and tricuspid valves are closed. The second sound "dub" is heard when aortic and pulmonic valves are closed.
These valves allow only one-way traffic flow. In damaged valves, the blood will flow back (regurgitation) causing cardiac symptoms.
Echocardiography will reveal which valve is leaking causing regurgitation.
