What Is A Black Itchy Spot On Back With Sweats, Chills And Body Ache Suggestive Of?
I am worried that I may have been bitten by an infected tick several weeks ago. I had an itch on my back (not easily seen spot-at the left shoulder blade). A few weeks ago my boyfriend looked at the spot and said there was a black spot under the skin and I thought that I would have it checked when I have my doctors apt in 2 months. Now I have been having sweats and chills, and unexplained body aches. Could this be a tick burrowed under the skin?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The tick bite is characterized by a red rash around the bite. With a dark spot in the center. Can be extended several weeks after the bite.
Tick 's mouth part only burrows under the skin. While sucking blood remaining body remains on the patient's body. So can be recognized easily.
Fever with Riger you have if associated with lymph node enlargement &typical rash in the beginning. Are signs of Lyme disease. Needs to be assessed by your family physician followed by specific treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
