What Is Causing The Seizures Of My Brother?

My 22 year old brother has taken his first seizure in febuary 14. He had an eeg done 3x cat scan and mri. Tsh, free t4, cmp, cbc done. All off which returned normal. He has had a total now of 4. He was prescribed keppra 500mg bid. After 3 months requested to be weaned off the drug. Has had 2 seizures since weaning. Oddly, during his last eeg, the tech noted on the eeg to the neurologist that his heart rate dropped to 40 and his pulse ox dropped to 76%. Then returned to normal. My brother is having nocturnal seizures. 2 have been upon waking and 2 after falling alseep a few hours. I am leaning towards a cardiac condition. Any help?

Hello, the fact that your brother is still having repeated seizures which we call 'epilepsy (when seizures became repetitive, it is epilepsy ) It requires a through work up , including cardiology consultation for the management . In fact he had a seizure during EEG, which is not uncommon(the intensity of lights can induce seizures) . You have not provided the detail of the seizure , --whether loss of conciousness , froth , aura etc so as to conclude about the type of seizure.
My suggestion is get him to a neurological institute, where every thing can be taken care of and her anti-epileptic medicines should be started at earliest. Hope this helps. Regards.
