What Is Cerebral Stroke?

What is cerebral stroke? My father died recently due to cerebral stroke. He was hospitalised for high bp. He was ok for first two days. After that he went unconscious. There was no recovery since then, he died on the fourth day. Reason given by doctors was cerebral stroke. I have seen the info in wikipedia. I want to know from experiences of the people. I knew only heart problems and heart attacks. I never knew that blood clot in the brain would kill the person.

There are two types of stroke: 1. Haemorrhagic (due to a bleed leading to a clot pressing on brain tissue). 2. Thrombotic (due to a small clot in a blood vessel supplying a part of the brain, so that that part dies of lack of oxygen. Due to your Dad having hypertension, he almost certainly had the first. If the clot is large enough and presses on an important part of the brain, of course it can kill. eg if it affects the medulla oblongata which controls heart beat and breathing. Hope this helps. Happy to help further if need be. Please IM me.
