What Is Dryness In Tongue With A Pea Sized Lump On The Tongue Suggestive Of?
One day my tongue was really dry and it was really bizarre. I kept drinking water but it seemed to persist for a while. Next day I was fine and now a couple more days later I've noticed a hard, roughly pea sized lump inside my tongue. It doesn't hurt and I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't started feeling it with my fingers (not even sure why I decided to start examining my tongue). You cannot see the lump visibly but is most definitely there. I'm really panicking about it and it's hard to get answers online because it is quite precise... Can someone please put my mind at ease :(
As per your complain dryness on tongue that has lasted for not more than a day can be due to lack of sufficient water intake while can also be due to causes like side effect to any food or medication. A lump inside the tongue can be due to causes like a leiomyoma, foreign body granuloma, benign muscle tumor, fibroma etc.
The exact diagnosis can be done only after a clinical evaluation and in case if there is a doubt FNAC/Biopsy can be advised. Although it does not needs to be malignant and fatal and an be a harmless condition. So better consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and investigations should be done. As of now you can do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lump and do warm saline gargles.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
