What is Febuget 80 and what is it used for ? My husband has a high level of uric acid and he has been prescribed Febuget 80. What are Febuget 80 tablets ( Febuxostat ) used for and what do they contain ? Would appreciate your response on my email ID YYYY@YYYY What is the difference between Febuget 80 and Allupirinol (Zyloric) tablets and which one is more effective ? Please advise. Thank you

Febuget 80 inhibit an enzyme known as xanthine oxidase which helps in the production of uric acid in the body. High amounts of uric acid can accumulate in joints causing gout. By inhibiting the production of uric, the amount of uric acid stays low and consequently gout is prevented.
Allopurinol is as well used in the treatment of gout. Like Febuget, it inhibits the same enzyme there by preventing uric acid formation and consequently decreasing the amount of uric acid in blood.
Side effects of both drugs include Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and hypersensitivity.
Febuget has relatively no contraindications and no drug adaptation in any condition where as Allopurinol is contraindicated in patients with liver diseases and those involved in activities where extremely alertness is required.
