Helo…In the past couple of weeks I have gained 15 lbs, have bad pitting edema from knee to toes in both legs, and that part itches very bad. Last year i had an onset of itching throughout my whole body and really dark urine but everything with my liver looked normal. But what could be going on now?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, The Symptoms you had last year were itching with dark urine and liver was normal. This year you have pitting edema with & itching. Local itching you have can be due to over stretching of skin. Pitting edema can be due to, - Skin conditions like Insect bites/vericose veins/thrombophlebitis/ skin infections. - severe anemia,Kidney /liver/heart disorder. It needs to be investigated widely under a physician's guidance. Thanks.
