While I was exercising this morning my right jugular popped out. I m a 42 yr old female, 136 lbs at 5 4 . My heart rate was at 155 when it happened and I was running on my elliptical, working harder than I have before. Should I be concerned? It has never happened before.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
* As per my clinical experience, the single episode of jugular vein distension is most likely to be related to strenuous activity in form of hard work.
* If it remains on consistent basis , one should be evaluated with Doppler ultrasound of the neck.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
