Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i want to know about knee replacement. I m from kolkata. Here i m consulted with doctors. Done Blood test, x-ray,MRI and biopsy. I have all the report and today I got the Biopsy report too. Would you please like to answer me the cost for knee replacement.
In knee replacement articular (joint forming) surface of thigh and leg bone is replaced by metallic implants, thus relieving the patient of pain and deformity. For a standard one sided knee replacement hospitals charge somewhere around 1.25 lac to 2.5 lacs.
It depends on the rating of the hospital as well as the fees of the operating surgeon. Usually we don't take biopsy before knee replacement, so if they are taking biopsy it means there is something else present which may increase the cost of surgery if specialized custom made prosthesis is required.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Rohan Shanker Tiwari, Orthopedic Surgeon
