What Is Meaning Of Negative Acid Fast Bacilli Stain In Sputum?

i wanna kno if my labatory show that i have

1. spumtum : negative acid fast bacilli (AFB) stain

2. X-ray (lung) : reticular infiltration at left upper lobe

and once i had been a tb 1 year ago and check the sputum just last month it didnt found the tb

what the labatory result mean ??

Hello,
a negative stain result means that tuberculosis was not detected with microscopy, which is good. The X-ray finding is the result of your past tuberculosis incident. I have to make clear to you that microscopy alone is not sufficient to exclude active tuberculosis. You need a culture done and I'm certain that your doctor has ordered one. It just takes some time to get the result.
