What Is Side Effect Of Prednisone?
I have to take 50 mg of prednisone Sunday evening at 9pm, another 50 mg at 4am prior to. CT scan with contrast dye Monday am. Should expect side effects from the prednisone and if so, what might occur ? A friend said if one pill can cause insomnia, anxiety etc

Long term use of prednisolone can cause opportunistic infection, Cushing's syndrome, osteoporosis, fractures, peptic ulceration, glaucoma, cataracts, hyperglycemia, pancreatitis, increased appetite, psychosis and obesity. Use for 1 – 2 days will not cause any side effects. Side effects are observed only on long term use. Anxiety and insomnia may occur but it is transient and will completely resolve on discontinuation of prednisolone. So don’t worry and take care.
