Hi, thank you for posting at HCM.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is a chronic disease of mucosal damage caused by stomach acid coming up from stomach into the esophagus.

To see the stomach and esophagus condition you need an (EGD) Esophagogastroduodenoscopy.

To treat this disease you should change your lifestyle by:
1- Eliminating coffee, alcohol, chocolate, fatty foods, acidic foods and spicy foods.
2- Losing weight.
3- Changing head position when you sleep, by elevating the head of your bed.
4- Stop smoking cigarettes (if you smoke).

I recommend Nexium(Esomeprazole) 40mg 1 pill a day(in the morning), 1 hour before you eat. You should use this medicine for 6-8 weeks.

Consult your gastroenterologist.

All the best.
Dr. Behar.
