What Is The Best Time To Take Contraceptive Pill After Having Sex?
HiI ve been taking Cerezette for almost 3 months now every day at 7:30am. I had sexual intercourse on Tuesday (unprotected as I ve been on the pill) however, I forgot to take my pill on the following morning. As I didn t realise until mid-day, I went to the nearest Chemist and purchased the Emergency Contraceptive Consilient 1500mcg Tablet that afternoon.I took my forgotten pill that evening and will continue to take every morning. Are my chances at getting pregnant slim? I ve never used Emergency Contraceptive Consilient before and I m not quite sure of its effectiveness (others usually state a percentage or daily breakdown of effectiveness)I hope you can help.
The emergency contraceptive pill should be taken as early as possible but within 72 hours of unprotected sex. It is 50–94% effective in preventing pregnancy. It is more effective the sooner after intercourse it is taken.
A missed pill is one that is 24 hours or more late. Since you had missed the pill in the morning and taken in the evening, you will still be protected against pregnancy and you don not need to use extra contraception like emergency contraceptive pill. Continue taking the rest of the pack as normal.
Hope this answers your query.
