What Is The Cause And Treatment For Sore Mouth And Tongue?
I am a type 2 diabetic. I have had canker sores in my mouth for the last 6 months. they are called aphthous ulcers. I am treating them with dapsone and tacrolimus. I now have a sore mouth and sore tongue. what could be causing yhe sore mouth? and is there another or better treatment for the ulcers?
Hi, Recurrent apthous ulcers in mouth is a frustrating problem and is often described as sutton's disease. if you have poor response to the above drugs, you need to check the diagnosis whether they are really apthous or something else. Common ulcers that are difficult to differentiate from apthous ulcers include tubercular ulcers, viral, fungal (as you are a diabetic) and rarely related to the drugs you are using for either diabetes or others. The treatment may change with a new diagnosis of the cause of the ulcers. I suggest you to consider all the above possibilities and get evaluated accordingly by your physician. All the best.
