What Is The Cause For Severe Pain In Both The Legs?

Hi, My father in law had 5 way heart bypass surgery two weeks ago and is currently in a rehab facility. He's doing great except for the sever pain in both legs. The surgeon harvested veins from one leg and did an exploration in the other. Is this typical and can anything be done? He's having a terrible time even standing. Thanks.
