The blackening of the teeth is actually Dental caries, which is caused because of many reasons, excessive intake of sugar, improper oral hygiene, usually in the kids its because they sleep while/ after consuming milk with sugar at night. Most of the times we don't take take of kids teeth but it is most important to take care for many reasons most important ones are that the permanent tooth at that particular area also gets affected directly or indirectly if the milk tooth is damaged.
Nothing to worry about, consult your dentist, restorations can be easily done, if there is no pain and if pain is present then also treatment known as pulpectomy can be done if required.
Always remember "Precaution is better than cure...".
Make it a point that not only your kid but everyone at home brush their teeth twice daily, n kids should use a special toothpaste which is specifically for kids, for small kids parents should help/assist child while brushing.

Blackening of teeth is most likely caused by dental caries. The decay is caused by improper oral hygiene, a diet high in sugar and/or putting your child to bed with any fluids other than water. A child should only go to bed with a bottle of water if a bottle is necessary.
The other possibility for teeth turning black is dental trauma. The blackness could be pigmentation from necrotic nerve tissue and blood that has leached into the tooth infrastructure. This can be addressed by RCT and internal bleaching. Since this is a baby tooth and he is five years old, I would not recommend internal bleaching since the tooth will be shed within the next couple of years. However, if it is caries I recommend getting him into the dentist for proper evaluation and care sooner than later. These caries can lead to more aggressive and painful infections.

Total Black discoloration of teeth of child may be due trauma to the same teeth which is usually common in children with protruded teeth.
If black colour is localised or if there is just a black spot on teeth then it is due to decaying of the teeth.
First diagnosis is to be done if it is due to trauma or decaying.
In first case patient will have to undergo root canal treatment.
In second case just removal of carious part & cement filling will suffice.
Take good care of child's oral hygiene. Avoid sweet food items specially in the evening.
Even child eats any sweet things, make him habitual of cleaning his teeth immediately after eating. This will help to keep caries away.

Hi, the condition is decay/ cavities thats totally treatable, you need to get filling done in these teeth to prevent harm to erupting permanant teeth. Also make your child brush twice daily and make him rinse his mouth with water after every meal to prevent further decay.

most common reason is dental caries, caused due to excessive sticky carbohydrate intake , faulty use of milk bottles etc. in about 2-3 years new set of teeth will appear so you may wait for them to erupt. for esthetic purpose you may get tooth colored restorations for your child

It can be corrected in two ways depending upon the severity - either by root canal treatment, tooth filling .

what you say indicates that your son is having carious teeth
now what i would suggest is that you pay a visit to your dentist who may do the following
1.if the lesion is small than a filling
2.if pulp is near exposure than indirect pulp capping
3.if pulp has just exposed then direct pulp capping
now having done that what i would suggest that you make your child maintain good oral hygiene by following ways
1.encourage him to brush his teeth after dinner before going to sleep
2.things containing sugar are not to be totally discouraged , only let him drink water every time he eats such things because clearance is the best way to avoid further carries
3.also you can make him do luke warm saline rinse after he takes sweets

The blackening of teeth may be sign of dental caries and at age of 5 yrs due to excess intake of sweets;chocolate and poor oral hygiene the teeth get decayed and fall as they are deciduous teeth and are bound to fall.He will also follow the same process that the deciduous teeth will fall and permanent teeth will replace them and with growing years your son will learn from you good oral care and he will be fine.
