What Is The Cause Of Intermittent Pain In The Ear Which Radiates To The Neck ?
Been having intermittent ear pain in left ear for past three months, sometimes extends into various areas in the neck ...comes and goes...occasional hoarseness with phlegm when I clear throat .

Ear pain usually origin from ear itself (called external ottitis ) or origin from other area like cervical spine, eustachian tube,oropharyngeal area, even from laryngeal area called as referred otalgia.
Occasional hoarseness of voice and phlegm may indicate pathology in larynx, according to WHO guideline hoarseness of voice more than 4wk, need a thorough laryngeal examination to exclude any laryngeal pathology.
In my opinion you must urgently consult an ENT specialist for further investigation.

Intermittent pain in the (L) ear could be due to various reasons such as, Eustachian tube (the tube connecting nose and the ear) dysfunction, sinusitis, Temporo-mandibular joint arthritis, etc. Only after a thorough examination the actual cause can be found out. Occasional hoarseness and the phlegm in the throat could be either due to sinusitis or acid reflux from the stomach. You can try doing steam inhalation, drinking plenty of warm water and taking anti-inflammatory medicines (such as diclofenac/ibuprofen).
