What Is The Cause Of Pain And Swelling In Wrist In The Absence Of Fracture?
almost 4 weeks ago I fell on an outstretched arm onto my hand. Terrible pain but little swelling and no bruising. pain was so severe that i went to the er. it felt like i was getting cramps in my forearm. xray of wrist and elbow only-no fractures. now i cannot turm my hand palms up, only thumbs up and i cannot straighten elbow or touch hand to shoulder. i get about half way. still alot of pain with any movement and deep aches in the cold
- Certain fractures of small bones in the hand (scaphoid) do not show up for uptown 2-4 weeks after the fall - Is this pain in both hands? - In the absence of a fracture, it is possible that you may have some ligament injury. Sleep with your hands on a pillow, elevated so as to decrease the swelling overnight.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
