Hi im dr.hema physiotherapist.

I had gone through your query.
As per above symptoms, Any joint popping or cracking that is associated with pain may indicate damage to the articulating surfaces of the joint.
Such pops and clicks could be due to tissue damage.

If you hear joint pops and clicks with no associated pain in the joint, you don't need to worry.
So I would want you to consult an orthopaedic doctor for direct evaluation because as you mentioned you have had the pain from two months earlier and so we need to check for arthritic changes in your knee.

In mean time start RICE at injury site that is stopping any activity and resting is the first step in RICE, then rest, elevation and ice.
If there is no tissue damage go for strengthening exercises of knee muscles and reduce weight if necessary.
Take precaution avoid stress to knee.

Keep your other joints active.

Hope this helps and guide you in taking decision. Please write back in doubt.Im happy to help you.
