What Is The Cause Of Red Itchy Rash On The Sole Of The Feet Accompanied By A Viral Fever?

My 8 year old son has a red, itchy rash on the sole of his feet. It just started today and he's just getting over a virus that caused a fever for 2 days. The fever never got over 100.9... Should I take him to be seen? Could this be a reaction to the fever?
