Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Cause Of Shoulder Pain And The Swelling In The Thumb?
On. Jan 30th I twisted the wrong way and pulled a ligament in my right hip. A week later I noticed that my left thumb hurt when I bent it and it was swelled. I then started to have pain in my left shoulder blade. After about 2 weeks of shoulder pain it has moved to the top of my shoulder and across to my neck. I also still have pain and swelling in my thumb. Could this be arthritis?
I do not think it is arthritis. Rather I would say it is cervical spondylitis. In this condition there is nerve compression at neck which cause pain in neck up to hand. I would recommend you to get an x ray of neck. Till that time you can take tablet pregabalin and methylcobal tablet for pain relief. Avoid using high pillow and learn neck muscles strengthening exercises.
