What Is The Cause Of The Swelling Of The Ankle With A Cramp In The Left Calf?

Hello. I had a cramp during sleep in my left calf a week ago. It was extremely sore for 3 days. I then traveled in a car for 5 hrs stopping every two hours to go to the restroom and stretch my legs. Upon returning home, my left ankle was extremely swollen. There was pain from the swelling and the swelling was all the way up to my knee. Is this something I should be worries about?? My ankle is still swollen but has gone down significantly.

It looks like you had a first degree ankle sprain and ankle synovitis. It is good that swelling is going down. My advice to you is that apply ice to your ankle. Keep it over pillow when you are on bed. Also you can take pain killers such as diclofenec tablet. Local gel like diclofenec is also effective.I do not think if swelling is decrese you need to show to a doctor at present. Take more salt in diet, and avoid direct cold air to your body to prevent spasm.
