What Is The Cheaper Alternative Of ISTAVEL 100 Mg?
Dr. I started taking ISTAVEL 100 mg. (Sitagliptin Phosphate) a couple weeks back. Before that I have been taking Metformin1000.The sugar level reading before and after administering Sitagliptin is as follows: Before After FBS 141 108 PPBS 204 118 Now I am advised to continue with this medicine. But the cost of the medicine is very high being imported. Is there any Indian company manufacturing and selling the medicine cheaper under any other brand name?

Sitagliptin is an oral hypoglycemic drug prescribed to decrease blood sugar levels. It works by inhibiting the enzyme Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 which inhibits the degradation of Incretins which decreases the blood glucose level by increasing the insulin secretion and inhibits the glucagon secretion.
Side effects of the drug are headache, hypoglycemia on combination with other hypoglycemic agents, nasopharyngitis and upper respiratory tract infections. Istavel is manufactured by Sun pharmaceuticals. Zita is alternative to Istavel with Sitagliptin as an ingredient manufactured by Glenmark pharmaceuticals which costs less than Istavel. Visit the physician for alternative medication.
