Hello,
Your wife's thyroid tests results, show that she has subclinical
Hypothyroidism.
At the other side, her considerable weight gain during the last 3 last months can be a sign of Hypothyroidism.
Hashimoto thyroiditis is the most common cause of Hypothyroidism.
In these circumstances I suggest to do a TPO test to confirm the thyroid diagnosis.
After the definitive diagnosis, you can discuss with your wife's treating doctor about the benefits and risks of starting low doses of thyroid
hormone replacement therapy, in her specific circumstances.
She has borderline-
high cholesterol and LDL test results.
In my opinion, a low-fat diet and more physical activities can be sufficient to stabilise the situation within a couple of weeks.
I suggest repeating these test 4 weeks after you start the healthy diet and exercises, to re-evaluate the situations of lipids in your blood.
About her antipsychotic medications, I suggest consulting regularly her treating doctors because only this doctor can answer how long she has to take these medications and if it is necessary to modify this therapy in the future.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Elona Xhardo,
Endocrinologist
