Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have really bad pain in my one heel and was told that it is probably a heel spur but I have to wait to see if it gets worse before I get a referral for an x-ray. What can I do in the meantime to manage the pain and can heel spurs go away by themselves?
I am so sorry to hear about this heel pain. There is no point in waiting to see whether it gets worse before you go for treatment because you are in serious pains already. Let your doctor send you for this exam right away to diagnose the exact problem.Heel spur would not go away without some intervention. We would at least need to get an adapted foot wear or surgery to get this condition addressed. Also, drugs against pains would remain a major part of the treatment to get this addressed. Please, talk to your doctor about this.
Heel spurs would not go away all by itself. I hope this addresses your query fully. Feel free to ask for clarifications and more information if need be. I wish you well. Dr. Ditah, MD.
