What Is The Danger In Flying With A Possible Skull Fracture ?
My husband has a possible skull fracture. He wont go to the doctor here but will see his doctor in Hawaii. What is the danger in flying. He fell off his scooter about a month ago and hit his head on the pavement. He thinks he is leaking cerebral spinal fluid as he claims he can taste it. What do you think?
A leakage of cerebro-spinal fluid indicates fracture of the skull-base and needs IMMEDIATE attention.
Since the air pressure in all modern aircrafts is constantly maintained, there is unlikely to be any problem during the flight. I would however, recommend that MRI of the brain SHOULD be done prior to his flight.
Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me and will prescribe the advised drugs in appropriate doses.
