What is the diagnosis for the following anisocytosis values for a male / 33 : HEMOGLOBIN 17.4 g/dL Male : 13-17 Female : 12-15 HEMATOCRIT(PCV) 48.72 % Male : 40-50 Female : 36-46 MEAN CORPUSCULAR VOLUME(MCV) 96.1 fL 83-101 MEAN CORPUSCULAR HEMOGLOBIN(MCH) 27.9 pq 27-32 MEAN CORP.HEMO.CONC(MCHC) 29 g/dL 31.5-34.5 RED CELL DISTRIBUTION WIDTH - SD(RDW-SD) 57.4 fL 39 - 46 RED CELL DISTRIBUTION WIDTH (RDW-CV) 17.1 % 11.6-14
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows: 1. Hemoglobin level is good, however anisocytosis suggests early possibly onset of iron or vitamin B12 deficiency. RDW is also high indicating the same anisocytosis 2. Get a serum iron studies and B12 assay done for evaluation. 3. At present, nothing to worry. Do followup after a month with reticulocyte count.
