What Is The Difference Between Cenestin And Estradiol Tablets?

female, 65, took Cenestin 0.625 MG for 15+ years, post surgery with no problem; stopped all meds last May & gradually adding them back one-by-one; called insurance company to resume Cenestin, however they are substituting Estradiol 1 MG at a savings of $274; what is the difference and should I allow this or should I insist on Cenestin? Thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM. Thanks for the query.
These 2 drugs both contain synthetic estrogens and effects are similar. it is used for same purposes and estradiol can be replaced with cenestin if there is indciation for it. There is slightly bigger chance of side effects with cenestin but most women dont experience it at all. YOu can try it and see will there be improvment. if not, you can always go back to estradiol
WIsh you good health. Regards
