What Is The Fissure On The Side Of My Throat?

Hi, I have a fissure in the side of my throat that has been causing me some issues over the past couple of years. It is about 10mm long and cannot be seen unless I tense my throat. food has been getting caught inside it but cannot be noticed until it gets infected. Once I manage to dig the offending item out it generally feels better within hours. However this past week it has been causing me a fair bit of pain and I cannot see anyting in it. What may this hole be? I am 6ft, male, 37 years old with no history of serious illness. Thanks for your help

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

It may be a acid reflux that causes corrosion or hypertrophic or granular pharyngitis or It may be a edematous mucosal fold. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use salt water gargling thrice a day. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water. Please consult with your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
