What Is The Life Expectancy Of An Elderly Person With Chest Infection?

my elderly mother has been unwell for a week with chest infection and has black urineshe finished antibiotics and is no better the nursing home are asking us to sign a do not resuscitate as she is weak and lost weight should we prepare for the worst ?

Hi.

The lung tissue in itself is very difficult to treat, and whne chest infections occur in the elderly it is almost like a death penalty for the patient unfortunately. I cannot really say what her prognosis is without knowing her diagnosis and other information, but it does seem like you should be prepared for everything, I am sorry.
