My father went to dr. for extreme back and neck pain that progressively worsened over two months period. They finally did a CT scan and found two large masses, one on each lung, plus a mass on right adrenal gland. The report also stated a bulla and a spiculated nebula (I believe that was the term) He has been a heavy smoker for 30+ years. He is at home and he is in pain. His arm is (same side as mass) is hurting and beginning to go numb, I ve also noted that his right eye is droopy. The mass is on the right apex of his lung. From what I have researched that could possibly be Horner s Syndrome. He has a bad cough, he s lost 20 lbs, and has black stools. I know the prognosis isn t good. At this point he doesn t want to go to ER, but I just need someone to tell me what could be going on. I m assuming late stage Lung Cancer. Do they even do chemo at this stage? What s prognosis for life expectancy? At this point we are making him comfortable, but at what point do I intervene and say you are going to dr. now! Help! I need guidance! I should also say this is complicated by the fact that he does not have health insurance.
