What Is The Life Expectancy Of Late Stage Lung Cancer Patients?

My father went to dr. for extreme back and neck pain that progressively worsened over two months period. They finally did a CT scan and found two large masses, one on each lung, plus a mass on right adrenal gland. The report also stated a bulla and a spiculated nebula (I believe that was the term) He has been a heavy smoker for 30+ years. He is at home and he is in pain. His arm is (same side as mass) is hurting and beginning to go numb, I ve also noted that his right eye is droopy. The mass is on the right apex of his lung. From what I have researched that could possibly be Horner s Syndrome. He has a bad cough, he s lost 20 lbs, and has black stools. I know the prognosis isn t good. At this point he doesn t want to go to ER, but I just need someone to tell me what could be going on. I m assuming late stage Lung Cancer. Do they even do chemo at this stage? What s prognosis for life expectancy? At this point we are making him comfortable, but at what point do I intervene and say you are going to dr. now! Help! I need guidance! I should also say this is complicated by the fact that he does not have health insurance.

wel starting from his stage have you taken him to soctor recently and gotten proper staging done because obly than can you knoe the correct stage and than you can know the right prognosis at this point his cancer can be stage 4 or 3 we dont know so prognosis is always according to the stage ......but in your case best wil be to at least give him oalliative treatment so that he can have bettr quality of lige at least even though his disease is progressed but stil smthing can be done to relieve the pain if he is not wiling to go to er try getining him into some programe ....i hope you r satisfied
