What Is The Meaning Of Diffuse Bulges Posterior Central Annular Tear As Shown On Rest?
1. Diffuse bulges posterocentral annular tear with broad bases central protrusions at L3-L4 and L5-S1 levels encroaching the lateral canals and contacting the bilateral traversing L4 and S1 roots. 2. The L4-L5 disc shows diffuse bulge, left central extrusion with inferior migration causing stenosis of left lateral canal compressing the left traversing L5 nerve root.
According to MRI report you have degenerative disc disease of lumbar spine. Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis which allows herniation of disc.
1.At L3-L4 and L5-S1 level, there is diffuse disc bulge associated with posterocentral annular tear and there is broad based central protrusion of disc encroaching the lateral neural canal and it is in contact with bilateral traversing L4 and S1 roots. 2.At L4-L5 level there is diffuse disc bulge associated with left central extrusion of disc with inferior migration causing stenosis of left lateral neural canal and it is causing compression of left traversing L5 nerve root.
Treatment for degenerative lumbar disease includes physiotherapy or surgery. Effectiveness of both modalities are same. So,physiotherpay should be tried first. It causes strengthening of Para spinal muscles and it prevents further changes. Surgery should be the last option. There are also medicines like capsule pregabalin available for pain relief. Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurosurgeon. Get well soon.
