What Is The Meaning Of Localized Spill Of Contrast Into Pelvic Cavity In HSG Report?
Hsg: 1)uterine cavity normal in shape n confgration. No intraluminal filling defect. 2) Both fallopian tubes are normal in course, calibre n outline. 3) Localized spill of contrast observed into the pelvic cavity on left side. 4) Free spill of contrast observed into the pelvic cavity on right side. Please tell me what is the meaning if point no.3 of hsg.
When there is free spill of contrast into the pelvic cavity on a particular side (right side as above) it shows that the tubes are patent.
If there is localized spill of contrast, it means that there might be something at the fimbrial end of the tube (left side above) that is not allowing free spill to happen. This need not necessarily mean an obstruction and needs to be further evaluated by ultrasound scan.
Hope this helps
