One of my workers went to a clinic last week and returned this morning with some medicine.
He was complaining of chest pains. His chest was x-rayed and they gave him the following medication: Before the xrays: Hyospasmol Tablets: dosage 3 x daily Bio-Cimetidine 400: dosage 2 x daily Sandoz Co-amoxyclav 375: dosage 3 x daily
After x-rays they gave the following as well with no indication to continue with the above: Erythromycin Stearate 250mg tabs: dosage 2 tabs 4 x daily; Prednisone 5mg Tabs: 2 x daily; painblok: 2tabs 3x daily Vitamin B-complex: 1 x daily
Kindly advise what the medication is for as he could not tell me what the diagnosis was.
Hello Thanks for the query. It is not possible to tell the exact diagnosis by having a look on the drugs prescribed by your doctor. Though what I can guess from the list of the drugs that your co-worker is probably suffering from a chest infections for which antibiotics have been given. I have a doubt about the giving steroid in the form of prednisone in this respect. If not improved he can take a detailed opinion from a pulmonologist. Thank you. Regards Dr Arnab Maji
