Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What is the normal dossage for esokit? i have was prescribed two boxes but the side effects are alot headache , dizziness, fever. i want to take for a week and continue with nexium then after a month proceed for testing. Is there anything wrong if i leave the other box, i am not responding well with the medication? please advise Thank you very much
I understand your difficulty. Many of my patients also find it difficult to tolerate the triple regime which Esokit contains. One way to reduce the discomfort is to take the esomeprazole 1/2 before food on an empty stomach and take the antibiotics Clarithromycin and Amoxicillin after the food. The best results are with 2 weeks treatment with the maximum bacteria eradication rate. If you take only one week the eradication may not be complete and this will show on the urea breath test. Then you may have to repeat the course. After a month of Nexium, you should not take any PPI for 2 weeks and then only do the urea breath test to know if you have cleared the H.Pylori. If you do the test on PPI or an antibiotic, the result will be falsely low. If you have any further query you are welcome to ask. Have a good day! Dr. Noble Zachariah
