What Is The Normal Range Of Uric Acid Concentrations In Blood Plasma?
My last lab test on uric acid was 11 and marked high. What is considered "normal range"? I am 75 yr old FE;5'4" weighing 190-200.Recently I had an acute gout attack and have never experienced pain like this. I am researching everything on gout;following diet;eating all those cherries,take 300 mg allopurinol daily..am I on the right path

1. The normal uric acid in serum is 4-8.5 mg/dl.
2. Eleven is definitely increased. At your age, gout attack will be severe.
3. Continue allopurinol and eating cherries (atleast 20 per day is good). You are on right path. Try to maintain uric acid within normal range. Avoid meats, coffee, caffeine and alcohol.
