Thyroid antibody query ..... I have sub-clinical overactive thyroid with TSH less than 0.05, and T3nd T4 are borderline. I have asked for an antibody test, which came back as 935 iu/ml. The reference ranges state - negative 100. So 935 seems rather high - or is it? How high is high?
Elevated antibody levels suggests presence of autoimmune thyroiditis. Thyroiditis is inflammation of thyroid gland and in autoimmune diseases, antibodies are the cause. A low TSH level with borderline T3 and T4 suggests sub-clinical hypothyroidism. Sub-clinical implies that if treatment is not taken, you will develop hypothyroidism.
I would suggests you to consult your doctor with reports. An immunosuppressive therapy which will suppress the levels of antibodies will be the most appropriate mode of treatment.
