i'm planning to do foreskin operation in my penis...i'm 24years old....but i feel so scare of that pain....how u do operation any injection applied before and after surgery you give any cream / tablets....any swelling will happen. pls advice me...thanks....
Hi It is common to be anxious before any surgery and hence I understand your concern. The procedure varies but my practice is to do it under spinal anaesthetic (injection into a spine) and also inject pain killer around penis. after operation, the pain should be mild and easily controllable with common pain killers like paracetamol and ibuprofen. There will be swelling at the area of operation which will begin to subside by 2 weeks.
Hello Thanks for query . You have Phimosis and planning to undergo circumcision and worried about pain .
Circumcision is a very simple surgery .Surgeon will clean your penis with Betadine and will give you injection of local anesthetic agent with very fine needle around the coronal sulcus and at the base of the penis .You will just feel pain of a prick of needle only once or twice ..This will make your penis numb abd you will not feel any pain for next one or two hours.
He will then excise the both the layers of foreskin and suture the distal edge of penile skin with inner layer of prepuce with absorbable suture material like Vicryl and put a dressing around it.
The dressing is usually changed on third day and after a week .The sutures usually get dissolved within 2-3 weeks till this time wound gets almost healed up completely .
He will give tablets like antibiotics and pain killers for a week .
Go ahead and get operated .There is nothing to be feared about it .
