What Is The Prognosis For Congestive Heart Failure?
Hi thanks for being there. My mum has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure (right side) and kidney failure. She is diabetic. What is the survival rate of such a condition? In the two weeks since hospitalisation she has gotten extremely weak and cannot walk anymore of even feed herself. Are these signs of treatment not being effective?
Sorry to say the prognosis does not appear good It is difficult to predict the outcome in a given individual – it depends on several factors / like ejection fraction, arrhythmia, response to medicines; underlying cause; aggravating and alleviating factors, comorbidity and so on There might be aggravating factors and/or resistance to treatment The treating doctor alone could conclude better, based on the total clinical picture
Good luck God bless you
