What Is The Purpose For The Procedure CT Pneumocolon In 83 Year Old?

my father aged 83 is having the procedure c.t.pneumocolon what is this for ,he also had his blood pessure taken on monday it was 187/100 ,he a, is this high blood pressurelso is visiting the age related clinic for palpitation breathlessness,staggering backwards cant focus his eyes properly headaches

Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. CT pneumocolon is used to look into colonic abnormalities.
2. At this age, its better than colonoscopy, as there is no possibility of sedation. It can also detect abnormalities outside colon.
3. Due to high blood pressure, any invasive investigation needs yo be avoided. Possible bleeding due to tumor is possibly being evaluated. If anything is found on CT pneumocolon, colonoscopy biopsy maybe necessary at later date. Control of blood pressure to less than 140/90 necessary.
