What Is The Reason For Heavy Spotting With Blood Clots Before Periods While On Birth Control?

Hi, I am on birth control and I have been on the pill for a couple of years now and I have always had regular menstrual cycles with it, but my past two periods have been irregular. This time I am experiencing heavy spotting with blood clots before my period is supposed to start. What could be the problem?

Hi,
While on the oral pills, it is imperative that you should get your blood profile checked once in a while for any clotting factor defects. You should also get a regular follow up with a gynecologist. Menstrual irregularities do happen with hormonal contraception, but need to be attended with precision.
