Hi Traynsford,
Thanks for writing in.
I hope you are getting treatment for under active thyroid. This may be responsible for your heavy periods & being overweight. Normalizing your thyroid function is possible with medicine alone & is likely to help solve these two problems.
Coming to your pain. Your pain as you have mentioned, is there for months & is sever. In addition no clue was found after imaging investigations right? In this regard my suggestion is you should see a specialist gynecologist who can perform a Laparoscopy test on you. As this is an investigation recommended in your case (i.e. after negative imaging & after no satisfactory response to ordinary pain killers).
In cases like yours this test is likely to provide some clue to the cause of your chronic pain. After that a specific treatment can be offered to you.
I am unable to understand the nature of swelling you are talking about, Is it a generalized swelling or localized to just one leg? You may contact me directly with your answer as both types of swelling have different causes.
I hope you get well soon.
Hai,
Your menorrhagic problem may not be related to your swelling of leg. Your unilateral leg swelling may be due to Filariasis, a worm infestation, mostly associated with frequent episodes of fever and rigor. It can be confirmed with peripheral night blood smear examination. Other possibilities may be thrombophlebitis, deep vein thrombosis, varicose veins of leg, lastly tuberculous lymph adenitis, and cancerous condition are to be ruled out. Tb, cancers may be associated with menstrual irregularities if uterine endometrium got affected. These are all can be ruled out with a thorough examination by an efficient Physician or a Surgeon. So consult a well qualified and experienced doctor and get solved your problem and get well soon. Dr SM
