What Is The Red Blister On My Skin?

I have a random blister or skin tear and I'm not sure what it is. it's a buldge about the size of my thumb protruding from my skin, and a visual inspection it appears as though there are signs of tearing or stretching, it's slightly reddish in color but does not hurt, even when applying pressure, if I press or squeeze on it there is very little to no give and I can only describe the feeling of it when I squeeze it with my fingers as a knotted muscle. at first I thought it was a pimp or something and so I tried pucturing it with a needle in an area where the bump did not feel "knotted", the needle puctured the skin a lot more easily then expected, and the needle hole did not excrete anything, blood or otherwise, it felt as if there was nothing there beyond the layer of skin. what is this, is it something serious I should consider going to the hospital for, or is it something that should not affect me terrible until I am able to be exampled by my family doctor in a day or 2.
