What Is The Relevance Of Taking Methycobal For Pain In Ear Drum?

Hi, my doctor gave me prednisone which I had to take for five days to cure my eardrum. After that, he asked me to take methycobal for 30 days. When I googled methycobal, it says that it is used to cure peripheral neuropathy. What is the relevance of taking methycobal to the eardrum?
