What Is The Remedy For Bitten Cheek Due To Wisdom Tooth ?

Hi im 33 years old. I have 1 wisdom tooth that it seems like every month OR so i bite my cheek pretty hard when i eat this has being going on for sometime now. Well this time i cut it on Tuesday then recut it on Thursday again OUCH nows its Monday i know from experience it takes a bit for it to heal. It feels like its getting better but i decided to look inside my mouth and its all White where i bit it maybe 5mm long and 2mm thick. Is that normal? dead cells? Is that just scar tissue forming? or is that the normal healing process.I know i will need that tooth pulled i guess ive been holding off far too long but ive had enough of that issue.

Hello Dan,

The white patch about which you told is just due to continuous biting of the cheek mucosa.
Nothing to worry about it. You just need to meet a nearby dentist & get your wisdom tooth extracted if it is misaligned or partially erupted or is of no use. Try some warm saline rinses. The condition is called as pericoronitis.

Thanx for referral....

Dear Dan, If your wisdom tooth is out of alignment, it will surely hurt like this. 30% of the population have mal-aligned or impacted wisdom teeth. Cheek biting is common in such cases. The white tissue line is full of necrosed tissues. The remedy is to get your tooth examined by a dentist. On clinical examination the dentist will evaluate weather to extract it or round off its edges so that they don't pinch your cheeks. You can yourself detect faulty wisdom tooth position by passing your finger from your front teeth backwards to the wisdom tooth.

Hi Dan,

because of continuous cheek bite the tissue is looking white. If you have wisdom tooth out of the arch form or is partially erupted, this problem will happen.
when ever you bite either soft tissue of cheek or gum will come in between the bite and create a wound which give you pain.

I advice you to go to dentist, get it evaluated, go for X- ray of wisdom tooth. if it is not at its position get it extracted. your problem will be solved.

hello Dan,

i would advice you to visit a dentist immediately as the dimensions of the white patch is quite big..firstly you should go for an OPG xray as it will give a clear picture of the positioning of your wisdom teeth.. this patch has been formed because of repetitive trauma caused due to malalignment of teeth..this patch may become infective any day and will cause lot of trouble as spreading of infection into other tissue spaces is quite common in such cases..it will restrict your mouth opening and you may feel pain in your TMJ joint of that side also..this condition is known as pericoronitis and becomes quite painfull...so my advice will be that you get your wisdom tooth removed as soon as possible...this white patch in the initial stages is a normal phenomenon but it may convert into cancer also in later stages if you dont get this treated for years.....

its scary to know but yes it is a possibility too...

thanks

Hi, Cheek occurs because your wisdom tooth is not properly aligned or it may be partially erupted.
It appears white due continuous cheek bitting.
Permanent solution of this problem is extraction of the wisdom tooth
