Doc my 17 year daughter is diagnosed with graves disease ,she is taking 30mg neomercazole once a day for past 40 days along with ceplar la 40 twice a day her thyroid test shows no lmprovement and also let shows al phosphorus level high at 169.her Endo has told her to continue the same dose is it ok
Hello, I have gone through your query. Your daughter is suffering from Grave's disease, which means her thyroid gland is overfunctioning. As you have mentioned that she is being prescribed Tab. neomercazole and Tab. Ciplar (since last 40 days), but still her thyroid tests show no improvement. In such cases, where there is no improvement in TSH levels & if patient is not finding any improvement in symptoms, I usually increase the dose of neomercazole. I would suggest you to check the availability of Radio-Iodine therapy (available in Nulcear Medicine departments) for Grave's disease because it is much beneficial solution rather than prolonged Neomercazole (neomercazole has a lot of side effects in long term use).
