What Is The Standard Procedure To Detect Lung Nodule?
If a lung/chest x-ray and CT is performed and a nodule in each lung discovered, a 4.9 mm in one and a 9.8 mm in the other, is is standard medical procedure to test these nodules in order to discover what they are and is it typical that testing on them is done?
Hello Thanks for your query. Nodules as per your description is very small. Therefore the chance of malignancy is less. But I would suggest you to go for CT guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) or biopsy if the nodules are peripherally located and bronchoscopic evaluation if the nodules are centrally located. It is essential to establish a tissue diagnosis for the nodules to confirm the natures of the nodules. Consult a pulmonologist. Thank You Dr Arnab Maji
