What Is The Suggestion For TB, Feet Swelling And Weakness In 86 Year Old?
My mother in law is 86 .she is suffering with tb since 3 months.due to medications she became very weak and not able to walk.dosage has been reduced to 1tablet per day after examing all tests.but the problem is now both feet are swelling.stomach has also become big.passing urine twice only maximum thrice.she sometimes says otherwise passes in bed
Hello Since your mother is 86 years old and so frail and weak it is very difficult to say any thing without clinically examining the patient . Whenever such patient visit my clinic in such condition I advise to get in blood for C B C , E S R , serum creatinine level ( as fluid retention is there so may be due to chronic renal failure ) . 2nd reason of swelling and retention of fluid may be due to Congestive heart failure ( C H F ) , as this is very common in this age group. 3rd reason may be hypoproteinemia , get in blood examiantion for protein level. Stop Anti tubercular condition at once and consult primary care physician and get his opinion as patient is very weak and age is advance , so in my opinion this is dangerous condition. Good luck. .
